The city of Cremona Italy is in the northern part of the country - Lombardy region and it is famous for its violins and musicians. CREMONA WEATHER

The main sites to see in Cremona include the Cathedral bell tower or the Torrazzo as it is commonly known. This brick structure is the second tallest in all of Europe and stands 343.5 feet tall. The world’s biggest astronomical clock lives here. You can climb more than five hundred steps to the top and take in the breathtaking views of the city and surrounding landscape. The Cremona baptistery is also a wonder to behold. It dates back to 1167 and has a unique octagon shape which is said to symbolize the eight days of Resurrection. 

The Palazzo Comunale is the town hall and also a popular place to visit. It was built in the thirteenth century. Here you can take in fabulous frescoes and a display of string instruments that the city is famous for. And the Loggia dei Militi is also a must see. It is located on the main square and dates back to the thirteenth century. It is also here that you will find a statue of Hercules gripping the city emblem. According to local legend, it was Hercules who first established the city of Cremona. 

If you love museums, be sure to take in the Civic Museum Ala Ponzone-Stradivariano. This museum boasts paintings, ceramics, artifacts and a collection of approximately 23,000 coins. There is also an area dedicated to famous violin maker Stradivarius. Here you can view stringed instruments as well as artifacts from his workshop. There is also a Violin Museum in Cremona. This building houses a variety of stringed instruments including violins, violas and cellos. Many of these were crafted by famed local luthiers Antonio Stradivari and Giuseppe Guarneri del Gesu.

If you are planning on taking the train to see the sights in Cremona Italy, you are in luck! Cremona has its own railway station named Cremona Railway Station which has been operational since 1863. A journey from Milan will take you approximately one hour. Other destinations from Cremona include Pavia, Mantua, Treviglio and Parma.
