Ischia Italy is a gem of an island in the southern part of the country that lies in the Gulf of Naples, approximately nineteen miles from the city of Naples. The island is famous for its native volcanic activity, its volcanic mud, and hot springs. Many tourists flock here from all over Europe and Asia to reap the rich benefits that this island has to offer. The island is almost exclusively mountainous with Mount Epomeo being the highest at 2,585 feet. Tourism is its number one industry so you’ll feel pampered and entertained on any trip here. Moreover, because of its southern location, Ischia boasts long, warm summers and mild winters, so it is a vacation destination all year round. Ischia Weather

Ischia weather is mild and temperate due to being in the bay of Naples and in Italy's South. Summers are generally warm, dry and muggy, with clear skies and winters are long, partly cloudy, wet and cold at times. Throughout the year the temperature can be anywhere from 8°C to 30°C. The lowest temperatures seen during the winters can be around 5°C, while the hottest summer days it could be as much as 32°C. Most Ischia weather and great time to visit is late spring to mid summer, and late summer to early fall when it's pleasant and crowds are manageable.

If you love historical sites, be sure to take in the Castello Aragonese on your visit to Ischia. In addition to the castle, there are walking trails, a few churches, and lavish gardens to wander through on the grounds of this stunning landmark. Moreover, the views from here are spectacular and worth writing home about. And if you want more to see even more gardens, there are a few more on the island. La Mortella and Villa Ravino have beautiful gardens that you can visit. 

If you’ve come to Ischia Italy in search of beaches, you won’t be disappointed. Although not all of the beaches are the traditional golden sand variety, you will find those too. Some beaches here are more steep and rocky but equally magnificent. There is even a sizeable beach located in the port near to where the ferries disembark.  

If wellness is on your agenda, be sure to take in the thermal spas and parks. This island has been famous for its healing qualities since the time of the Ancient Romans. Giardini Poseidon Thermal Gardens boasts twenty pools with varying temperatures. There is also a steam room located in a cave. Another hot spot is Negombo Thermal gardens which is a beach property with a dozen pools. 

Ischia Italy is an island destination rich with beautiful outdoor spaces, historical landmarks and relaxing hot spring spas. If you need a break from the hustle and bustle of your vacation consider this island paradise. 


Ischia Map & Train Tips

Your journey to Ischia can be stress-free and straightforward. Start by taking the train from where you are to Naples. If you choose a high-speed train, it may cost you a bit more, but it will be less crowded and get you there faster. Once you get to Naples, there are buses, taxies that will take you to the port. It isn’t far and will take under ten minutes if it isn’t rush hour.

You’ll need to get to the ferry a bit early since seats aren’t reserved, but you’ll have your pick of two ferry companies depending on your schedule. The Medmar ferry has service three times a day, and the trip takes about ninety minutes. The Alilauro ferry has about ten trips a day, and the voyage takes about an hour. Either way, it’s a fun, relaxing way to get to your destination.
