Tuscany has a few hot springs to choose from, and they are the hottest in all of Italy. One of your first stops might be the hot springs in Saturnia. This ancient 37 degree Celsius waters pour over alabaster rock slabs and run from Mount Amiata and the hills of Maremma to pool below. This popular destination has turquoise waters and sulfur-rich mud which is said to have antibacterial effects and aid in treating skin diseases as well as lowering blood pressure. The wild springs are free, but if you like to extend your stay and add a spa treatment to your bath, you can visit nearby Terme di Saturnia which is also a hotel and golf resort. 

The hot springs of Petriolo which lie along the river Farma are quite close to Florence in Tuscany. These waters ebb and flow at forty-three degrees Celsius and are steeped in the wild countryside of this gorgeous landscape. Native plants and trees abound here, and ruins of ancient walls from thermal baths of long ago still stand. The hot sulfur-rich ivory water is the perfect spot to rest your body, calm your mind and sooth your soul.

If your travels take you to Sicily, you can visit the Aeolian Archipelago where you will find the Thermale of Vulcano hot springs. The surrounding natural habitat is breathtaking, and people cover themselves in the healing mud when they visit here. This place is really a volcanic crater, and the views from the bath are spectacular and include volcanic rocks, the sea, and beaches.

Located in Northern Italy, Bormio borders with Switzerland and is the site of gorgeous hot springs. The waters of Bagni di Bormio reach about forty degrees Celsius. The waters are considered a wellness destination as they are chock full of precious minerals.

Train travel to hot springs in Italy is made easy with central train stations in most major cities. If you are visiting the Tuscany region and Florence for your hot springs vacation, The Firenze Santa Maria Novella Station or the Florence Santa Maria Novella is the central station in the area. If your travels take you to Sicily, each Sicilian province has a network of railway services which connect cities and towns although the hot springs of Vulcano are only accessible by boat. If Borimo is your destination for hot springs, train service has some availability depending on where you are traveling from.
