Modena Italy

Modena Italy is a city in the northern region of Emilia-Romagna. It is situated between Parma and Bologna right in the centre of the country between the Mediterranean and Adriatic coast. The city is rich in culture and history and has an important connection with the automobile industry. Famous Italian sports car makers such as Ferrari, De Tomaso, Lamborghini and Maserati all have headquarters near to Modena. In fact, the 360 Modena car was named by Ferrari after the city.

The Modena Cathedral is perhaps the most iconic building in the city, and a must visit for travellers. It has been designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and has spectacular architecture and decorations. The exterior features stained glass windows and large wooden doorways while the interior has an altar that is coated with gold. Other cathedrals of note in Modena include San Vincenzo, San Maria della Pomposa and the San Giovanni Decollato.

If you love museums and fast cars, the Museo Enzo Ferrari is for you. This museum was opened in 2012 and features not only a stunning selection of vehicles but also mementos including pictures and unpublished films that chronicle the life of car maker Enzo Ferrari. Modena Map & Train Tips

The Stazione di Modena is the main railway station in the city. It has been serving the city since 1859 and is located in the north centre of the city at the Piazza Dante Alighieri. This station offers various train travel options with destinations to places like Rome, Milan, Florence and Naples with stops at smaller regions in between.
