Piedmont Italy
A Beautiful Mountainous Region Worth Visiting

Piedmont Italy

Piedmont Italy is a region in the northwest, it's name comes from the Medieval Latin word Pedemontium or Pedemontis which means “at the foot of the mountains.” This is a fitting description as the region is surrounded on three sides by the Alps. It borders Switzerland in the northeast and France in the west. Other borders include Liguria in the south, Lombardy and Emilia-Romagna in the east and the Aosta Valley in the northwest. In 2017, the population of Piedmont was 4,377,941 and Piedmont is the second largest region in Italy after Sicily. It covers an area of 9,808 miles, and the capital of Piedmont is Turin.
